Overview

While interning at Skora Tech, I gained firsthand experience in content creation for a startup.

Vector graphics

One of the early challenges I tackled at Skora was the absence of vector assets. Brand logos were only available as raster images which get pixelated when enlarged beyond their limits.

Logos are a crucial factor in establishing a brand and building recognition. As a young tech startup seeking funding, Skora had to look presentable in both digital and print media.

I recreated the wordmark and icon logos as scalable vector graphics which were versatile and suitable for any medium. These instrumental assets were used on t-shirts, documents, banners, and so on.

Updated socials

Armed with vector assets, I switched my focus to social media accounts. At the time, each account had different profile images while the banners were missing.

I set the profile picture to the ball icon logo which worked perfectly with the circular previews on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. For the banner, I paired the wordmark with rising streaks of orange, inspired by the ascending graph coordinates in the ball logo.

For Instagram, I took the initiative to design new covers for story highlights. Each cover previously depicted a letter from the company's name. I replaced them with icons relevant to the highlights.

Additionally, I updated our Linktree page with a fresh coat of paint that matched our color palette.

Templates and content

In weekly meetings, I pitched ideas for our social media calendar. Once approved, I proceeded to design posts and stories while adhering to the brand guidelines.

To streamline the process, I prepared templates for scheduled content like blog posts. I paired minimalistic Skora branding with a bold typeface to accentuate the blog title. It also featured a large canvas for thumbnail images to shine.

As a sports agency, Skora offered paid services like professional athlete CVs and highlight videos. To support our talent, I created another template which positioned them for recruitment opportunities and highlighted their skillset.

At the beginning of the carousel, I used a bright orange stroke to visually put the player in the spotlight. The next slide featured a montage of their goals and assists. To make it easier to follow them, I added a motion tracked marker above the player.

Besides templates, I experimented with new layouts and 2D silhouettes and shapes to build an Instagram grid with a consistent visual identity. Additionally, I designed posts in a timely manner to align with various holidays.

Sustained engagement

During the FIFA World Cup 2022, I managed the Skora Instagram account and maintained a steady stream of stories to drive engagement. In a span of 29 days, I shared 130+ stories with at least 2 stories dedicated to each match.

I created story templates for match fixtures, score predictions, fun facts and community polls. I also reshared score prediction from followers with a playful caption to compare it with match results.

Over the course, Skora's account maintained a higher engagement rate with increased story replies and responses on poll/question stickers.

Copywriting and newsletter

To accompany our posts, I occasionally wrote the English description which was paired with an Arabic translation provided by my colleague.

Between platforms, I varied the tone of the copy to make it suitable for their respective followers. Instagram captions were high-spirited, usually with a call-to-action for potential talent.

Meanwhile, LinkedIn posts included formal updates for investors and shareholders. For the same audience, I assembled a quarterly newsletter as well highlighting major events and milestones.

Motion graphics

In March 2023, Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) organized a public event called Game On 2023. They supplied vector assets along with a brief to create a 10-second advertisement for elevators.

I individually key-framed elements imported from QSTP's artboard to create a motion poster with animated typography. I added upbeat music and sound effects to complement the animations. For varying screen sizes, I reframed the composition and submitted deliverables in different aspect ratios.

The final video played in Lusail and West Bay towers ahead of the event.

Lastly, I animated 6 different text prompts which engaged attendees at the event. The animations looped on a digital banner next to each activation and imitated their corresponding activity.
